In last week’s entry I reported on the research of Smart, Feldman, and Ethington on the effect of students’ congruence or lack of congruence (in RIASEC terms) with their college majors.

College Majors and RIASEC Types (Part 1)

The six personality types described by John L. Holland and often referred to by their abbreviation, RIASEC, are used by many assessments and other resources for career development. I find the RIASEC approach useful because it offers to those exploring the world of work a view from 40,000 feet. It summarizes certain patterns of interest and skill so that someone can quickly identify a limited number of occupations that are a good fit for the kinds of activities and knowledge that the career explorer wants to use on the job.

How Unions Benefit Apprenticeship Programs

Because I am writing this blog about unions, I should start out with full disclosure: I do not belong to a union and never have, but my father and grandfather were both union organizers--when they were not managers. Therefore, I have a prejudice in favor of unions. However, my favorable opinion is borne out by the research I have reviewed on apprenticeship programs sponsored jointly by unions and employers versus those sponsored solely by employers.

As an Entrepreneur your clients are the number one reason why your business is successful, because after all, a business cannot exist without money, and money comes from your customers. So once a customer uses your business, how can you keep them coming back for more? Them secret is simple, keep in contact with them, and give them reasons to come back to your business.

Each business is different, so you will want to look at what will
work best for you. Here are a few ways that successful businesses keep
in contact with their previous clients:

Career and Business Success- The Grass Is Not Greener

One of the key determinants of your success as a young entrepreneur is commitment. The moment you have started on your venture and are working your way towards carving your niche in the market and developing a brand you often realise that it is not as easy as it looked from the outside. There's the long hours, difficult customers and financial challenges. Yeah trust me it is not a walk in the park. But you know one thing, if you work on your strategy deliver on your promise and stay the course you'll be laughing to the bank someday!

The Power Of Clarifying Your Goals

Often when I speak to people about success and personal development, I sense that some individuals doubt what I speak about. Many people are very skeptical of the message that emphasizes the importance setting specific goals and going after them. Most people figure that if you continue to hustle doing whatever you’ve been doing, you’ll someday stumble upon success.

Sometimes Breasts Aren’t Enough, Julia Allison

I have been trying to figure out why WIRED’s cover story on Julia Allison incensed me so much.

You won’t find me bashing Paris Hilton or her ilk on this blog. As
someone who barely watches TV, her brand of reality-show insta-celebs
barely register on my consciousness. However, I do dwell in the PR
world, the internet world, the social media world…and when you screw
around in that world, I consider you fair game.

Customer Engagement

The best business referrals come from enthusiastic customers.

Do you really know what the customer experience is like with your company?

Internal feedback systems are biased and filled with potential errors. By examining the entire customer experience, only a third party can effectively obtain truthful answers and define the greatest needs for improvement. ONeal Consulting effects employee change that results in immediate customer experience improvement which makes the customer your best advertiser.
