I am an academic and a journalist involved with issues of social responsibility, primarily in Asia.  Originally from the United States, my background there is in book publishing and community organizing in New York City.  Issues I have been active with include homelessness, recycling, zoning and development, and democracy in Asia.  I am deeply familiar with the history and culture of China, Japan, and India, having lived, worked, and studied there; and, broadly speaking, in Asia as well.
