Comment on Node ant

Sorry. Last comment submitted a bit early. Overall, the list is very US-centric and there doesn't seem to be any priority given to the size of the market the innovation is attacking which it should.

Here is my $.02.

1. Zopa should replace Prosper. Both are doing great things in P2P lending which will be big but Zopa's approach is more sophisticated.

P2P Lending: Big, Established Financial Services Companies Should Worry About This Innovation

I would love to get people's thoughts/views on the prospects for P2P lending and why they feel it doesn't get as much publicity/press as other innovations these days a la social networking, crowdsourcing, anything green, etc.

Comment on Node ant

Elizabeth - This is one of the best columns I've read in a long long time. Business and the management of business is not a science so despite the well-crafted storytelling of the pundits, most business books are just good stories built on dubious assertions and data.

And so it was good to see someone point this out so publicly. Your final paragraphs were so spot on I could only smile after reading them. It's about time others point out the dumb'ification of business as promoted in business books.

Comment on Node ant

This article is pretty interesting and Jeong Kim who heads up the group is undoubtedly a great innovator. Some of Kim's interesting insights & actions as the head of Bell Labs include his use of a venture capital type approach to innovation as "Kim has grouped the Labs' more audacious research efforts under what's now called Alcatel-Lucent Ventures, or ALV."

This skunk-works for innovation makes a lot of sense. And several interesting ideas are emerging from these efforts which the article details.
