CITY TUNES

Have you ever been in a city, staying at a hotel, and had time on your hands? Maybe you’re in town for a meeting the next day, or your flight is delayed, and you decide you want to see the city. But since it is your first time there you wouldn’t know where to start or what to do.

Now there is City Tunes. Using an iPod or MP3 player, with a fee or through paid advertising, you can download a 15-30 minute intro to the city by a famous celebrity or a local. It could be anyone from a local sports star, a local chef, a local movie star, or maybe even the mayor, etc. They would talk about their favorite spots including, restaurants, galleries, bars, sights, and other activities they enjoy doing.

These locations would not be endorsements, in order to prevent it from commercialization. Revenue would be generated through the purchase of downloads, and through short advertisements at the beginning and end of the download. There are a number of avenues to support strong revenue. As the business grows, the downloads could be put on any number of different sites such as travel or iTunes. The downloads would be limited by the number of cities and the amount of locals who offer to speak. There could also be a social network where people contribute there own downloads for others to listen to. This social network include individuals from all over the world and numerous advertising and travel revenue opportunities would be available.

So next time you’re in a city with some time on your hands and you’re curious about it, think of City Tunes, and hopefully, with your endorsement, it will be a reality.
