Employee Morale During a Downturn

Given the state of the economy, I wonder what businesses are doing to keep employee morale high while still watching the bottom line? The need to make sure that employees have a life outside of work hasn't gone away, but the means by which to do this has changed with all the belt-tightening going on? What are you doing?
