Great question. The more I thought about it, the more I started thinking about the measurement of "impact" and "biggest headlines." If you check google's "zeitgeist" you likely get the Britney Spears.
But, if I had to guess who/what would be THE biggest of 2008, my bets are on our new Prez, whomever that may be.
Is impact inversely proportional to commoditization? Or, do you mean the post technology adopoption lifecycle where the blue chips get 10x the return of the category creating startup?
Innovation isn't one thing. Impact wouldn't be one thing either.
It will be the many new features 3G cellular is bringing each of us to improve our own experiences at life and at work. From navigation with traffic-avoiding and automatic notification featurse to friend-finding on the grid to voice transcription and voice activated commands that will save us from our own administrivia. For the first time, we may be leaving Zero Sum Gain for a better future. At least, that's what I hope.
TBI Audio Systems - all of these new devices seem to revolve around sound which hasn't been touched (physically) since the 1920's. Granted software and electronics have been used to manipulate the speaker driver but thats expensive and robs devices of battery / ac power.
TBI has addressed/solved this at the speaker, its a passive manipulation, its scalable, inexpensive and it works.
They have raised the level of sound quality. HDSS
