This is a toughie. Genetically modified crops (GMO crops) do provide a short-term solution to food shortages, but they are potentially harmful if not grown properly. So what's the tradeoff? Where's the middle ground? One solution I can think of is the Greening of GMO crops - that is, the creation of sustainable crops that won't result in the kind of "disaster" feared by Prince Charles.
