Todd, you've raised an interesting point. What I would like to ask is if there is a difference in the value of the reward and the impact on the individual, depending on what the reward is. Could it be the case that the reward of "appeasing a parent" differs from that of "aiding world hunger"? It seems to me that the rewards of doing something that results in helping people we don't even know meet their most basic needs versus appeasing a parent could have different long-term impact on the level of fulfillment and motivation of an individual.
